A meal hosted at hARTslane as part of At the Threshold - an exhibition exploring practices of hospitality, the domestic environment and the hosting of a meal or encounter as an intimate and theatrical occasion.
hARTslane is in an old stable.
My tent was hung from the old wooden beams.
Prepared courses.
The group consisted of 6 artists from the show, 1 actress, 2 of the hARTslane owners and 1 printmaker and President of the RE.
Aperitif: alphabet soup - hospitality in our conversations.
Starter: Pea-casso - to stimulate discussion about hospitality in our art spaces.
Quotes from artists and theologians were read out during the meal to stimulate discussion.
Main: KILN Print - to stimulate discussion about hospitality in our art making.
I explained my printmaking practice to the guests and then we printed our own meals.
Balsamic glaze monoprint; tomato sauce screenprint; spaghetti lasercut; cheese gold leaf.
A printed KILN dinner.
Dessert: Impressionist's Freedom - to stimulate discussion about hospitality in our collaborations and communities.
We painted with food to make a collaborative art piece that was then consumed.
Soft seats: fresh mint tea and taking the biscuit - to stimulate discussion about hospitality in the day to day. Guests made their own recipes for hospitality.
