[YWAM Bridges of Life | Life around the table DTS, Saint Hipolyte]
I was invited to teach on hospitality for a week of the Life Around the Table DTS at the Bridges of Life base in Saint Hippolyte, France. The DTS focuses on creating God-centred community through hospitality. and is set up to inspire and cultivate growth in your relationship with God and treasure your place at His table, the wonderful banquet that is life with God.
During the week I ran 7 lectures each looking at a different aspect of hospitality.
1. Hospitality in the person of God
2. Hospitality in history
3. Hospitality in table fellowship
4. Hospitality in host and guest relationships
5. Hospitality in the day to day & in our conversations
6. Hospitality in community & in limitations and boundaries
7. Hospitality in our barn raising and jam making
All of the sessions were based around my research for KILN and were very interactive.
1. Hospitality in the person of God - I started by guessing the students' understanding of hospitality.
2. Hospitality in history - students created role play of the different periods of history to show how its practice has changed.
3. Hospitality in table fellowship - I hosted a KILN meal (without the KILN tent). This course was about food and acceptance and I hot them to eat madeleines with chopsticks.
This course was food and entertainment and the students had to make the fanciest plate form the ingredients provided.
This course was food and hope and the students had to create a communal celebratory painting.
They had a lot of fun.
4. Hospitality in host and guest relationships - students making recipe cards for hospitality and thinking about how to be an empathetic host.
5. Hospitality in the day to day.
5. Hospitality in our conversations.
6. Hospitality in community & in limitations and boundaries
7. Hospitality in our barn raising and jam making.
